Bottle from Ales by Mail. Dark brown (almost black) pour with a beige swiftly dissipating head. Aromas of smoke, burnt wood, coffee, spice and black pepper. Lots of coffee in the flavour followed by a pronounced warming chilli hit. Interesting.

Ah, finally! About time I had something good tonight, thanks at Rachelle for the bottle.
This was poured into a pint glass.
The appearance was a black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Tight speckled lacing graces the sides of the glass.
The smell had a bold blast of roasty robust coffee bean backed up by a light chipotle /peppery heat - quite enjoyable.
The taste was really balanced well between the coffee and the chipotle heat.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body. Decent dry texture pervades nicely with the heat settling in underneath.
Overall, good stout with chipotle heat adding a nice complexity. Would have again if I could get it.

22 oz bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Black with half a finger or so of light tan head. Aromas of coffee, light chipotles, caramel, light vanilla. Tastes of dark chocolate, coffee, light chipotles, some sort of lactose like note that I’m not digging. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation, semi-watery mouthfeel. Not quite there for me.
