(Bottle) Pours black with the tiniest brown head. Aroma is boozy, port, dried fruit with chocolate hints. The palate is full, thick, creamy, sticky with modest fine carbonation - rich and luxuriant. Great taste. There’s a backbone of rich toffee sweetness. There’s alcohol, dried fruit, dark chocolate and hints of wood. Some bitterness in the finish. Very nice.

Bottle from Slow Beer, Fitzroy, Melbourne. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is roasty malt, caramel, liqouirce, alcohol,. The flavour is moderate sweet, liqouirce bitter, with a roasty, liqouirce, chocolate, woody, slightly peaty, warm boozy alcohol palate and a lingering alcohol bitter finish. Full bodied with flat carbonation.

From a 330ml bottle on 6/8/2019. The 2018 version was an absolute cracker so this has a lot to live up to! Pours close to balck with a small tan head. The nose features some chocolate with a lot of oak and a touch of booze. Very intense flavour wise, with lots of dark and milk chocolate, heaps of roasted and charred malt, masses of oaky booze, and a pretty sharp bitterness. The palate is slick and the carbonation moderate. Broadly true to style for an RIS, but could be a lot smoother and more cohesive. Not a patch of the 2018.

On tap. Black. Finely beaded almost brown head. Surprisingly subdued nose with some wafts of vanilla and dried fruit. Flavour aplenty on tasting however. Vanilla, cinnamon, raisins, and some bourbon characteristics. Lush and worthy of some cellaring.
