Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

SLOTH Belgian-style Imperial Stout is deliberately dark as hell. The pour is slow and sluggish. Its head is menacing, becoming torn and tattered Belgian lace on the sides of the glass as you cautiously consume this brew—sip by insidious sip.

The aroma is sweet from heavy malt and big alcohol with notes of vanilla, coconut and whiskey from the oak. The depth & breadth of roasted malt flavors loiters on the palate while the robust finish lingers, well, forever.

SLOTH...Just add couch.

Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours very dark brn/blk with a slight dark tan head. Aroma is dark chocolaty treacle with bourbon/vanilla. Whiskey even. It is full + bodied. Flavor is really dark treacle, bourbon in significant amount, alcohol/whiskey to be included, and maybe a slight touch of smoke. The flavors are complex and amazing. It is extremely tasty. Incredible.

Bottle shared by Trevor at Belgium Chimipalooza, cheers. ’Belgian style imperial stout’ from Alaska. Lightly lacing, pale brownish beige, creamy head over a black beer with chestnut edges. Aroma of chocolate sauce, baked banana, fig, coffee liqueur and slight coffee grounds, vanilla, dates, whisky, raisin, leather. Sweet onset, some banana, raisin, date but balanced with a beefy umami accent and a softly sourish undercurrent, softish carbo, thick, oily and slick caramelly malt body quickly turning deeply chocolatey, some yeasty spiciness here and there, toasted bittering ending along with peppery hops and warming, bourbon-like alcohol. Along the same lines as Weyerbacher’s Tiny but ’cleaner’ and more chocolatey.

Bottle big thanks to Todd. I appreciate it man. Pours a jet black color with a medium beige head. A big sweet fruity roast nose. Rich sweet chocolate, ash, chocolate, bitter dark chocolate especially, whiskey, vanilla. This is really nice. Soft, very flavorful. Drinkable. No heat. A big whiskey flavor but not overwhelming.

Draft at Tap Root Beer and Mead Social: Poured a thick black sludge with a light brown head. Aroma was complex with dark malts, hints of fruit and woodsy. Taste is a blast of roasted malts, dark fermented fruit, and nice warming booziness finish. Very smooth overall but complex if that makes sense. This beer has held up well and was a pleasure to get a sample of.

22oz bomber shared at Seth’s house. Dark brown/black pour with a chocolate head. Good lacing with wood, chocolate cake, and dark fruit aromas. All kinds of wood, dark roasted malts, baker’s chocolate, and whiskey notes. Dry and very woody. The whiskey was somewhat bland with maybe a hint of peat. As it warmed up, the stout opened up and got better..

Bottle at the Funky 6. Pours a menacing black with a moderate, creamy brown head. Roasted, dark malt aroma with candy and faint hops. Quite sweet with more dark malts, along with licorice, raisins, caramel, Belgian sugar and some chocolate. Modest bitterness. Full bodied with average carbonation. Finishes rich and sweet with lingering cocoa maltiness and some boozy warmth. Excellent.
