I bought this for the cool 1L bottle from the brewpub, pricey at 2100 yen for a 1L bottle. It pours a dark brown with a thin tan head, as someone said here it is quite Coke like! The smell was a chocolate malt aroma, the flavor was a bit watery, roasted dark malt body, mild chocolate but also a touch sour with a dry finish. I find it reminds me of my homebrew Baltic Porter when it was really young... this was bottle on the 16th and I am having it just 2 weeks later. I find it pretty average, for Japan it is ok but actually as a stout it is below average. I want more body & a fuller mouth feel from my dark beers. Having this again the next day (the beauty of a 1L bottle) it is coming off much roastier, bitter, slightly sour and yes a dry finish. Mildly more appetizing the second time around.

At the Brewpub. They only have two taps in the café, so this one came from a bottle. Pitch black with a medium light tan colored head. Well roasted malt aroma, very dry, some hops, but basically burnt malt. A bit milky. Dry, burnt flavor, good malt, well roasted, not much else, but an interesting roasted richness. A bit sour and tangy too. Longlasting, dry roasted finish, with a touch of pepper and some hops. Light body for such a well burnt beer. Decent stuff. Nice roasting, and no big problems. Very dry. Nice burning dryness, and light.
