Our Big Eye IPA is a big hoppy brew, thanks to the abundance of American Columbus and Centennial varieties we use to flavor and dry hop. While the English originally added extra hops to preserve their beers for sea travel, we do it for the love of all that bold, intense flavor that makes India Pale Ale one of our favorite styles.

Decent IPA, though nothing like the Sculpin--THAT should be their flagship IPA. Pours a light copper, with fluffy, quickly-dissipating head. Aroma of hops and citrus, though it’s somewhat muted. Flavor is a bit more smooth--not quite so bitter, this has hop bitterness and malt sweetness that are combined in a bit more of a balance. Mouthfeel is a bit more smooth, not so sticky, and finish is quite bitter. It’s not a bad IPA, but it can’t compare to their Sculpin.

Pour is hazy copper. Nose has a soapy aroma with pine and floral hop. Taste is very nice with good hop bitterness and malt backbone. Hop notes are floral and pine.

12 oz bottle from a six pack. Aroma seems past its prime; it’s perfumy, spicy, grainy, fruity. Pours clear copper with a nice off-white head with good retention; leaves some lace. Taste seems stale, bittersweet with a lingering bitter finish. Palate is fine. I sure wish I had a fresher bottle, but this was what was offered to me. Addendum: reading the Julian date, this was bottled on July 24, 2013, just a little over a month ago. This should taste a hell of a lot fresher. I wonder if it didn’t travel properly. I expect more from this brewery!

Bottle from a ABC Store, Honolulu, August 2013. Clear amber with a medium head. Fresh with a lot of hops, pine, grapefruit and resin. Also some light notes of caramel and malt. Bitter but not too bitter. The finish was dry. I wonder if we ever can buy a beer like this is a ordinary "supermarket" in Sweden?

355 ml. bottle poured in to a tulip. Clear, golden-amber colour with a dense, off-white head, that lasts throughout. Fruity aroma with sweet, exotic fruits, pines, grapefruits, resin and citrus. Caramel malts. Taste is bitter. Medium body with a pleasant, creamy texture and an average carbonation. Finishes bitter, dry with a good amount of fruits. Very enjoyable IPA from an ordinary supermarket. Nice!

Purchased at Binny's in Chicago, IL, enjoyed on a cool last day of July after a big weekend. Appearance is a dark copper gold with a thin white head that laces to the glass. Aroma is mostly of bready malt and whole cone hops. Taste goes down pretty bitter, has a unique flavor that is a bit dry and malty. Overall it's a good, decent IPA. I've enjoyed others more though.
