Our Big Eye IPA is a big hoppy brew, thanks to the abundance of American Columbus and Centennial varieties we use to flavor and dry hop. While the English originally added extra hops to preserve their beers for sea travel, we do it for the love of all that bold, intense flavor that makes India Pale Ale one of our favorite styles.

This is a very dense IPA, malts are packed in with soft fruit and molasses with very resiny hops, earthy, bitter. A hint of dank. Heavier in the mouth than you might want.

Bottle: Light copper color with a thin beige head. Nose is fascinatingly sweet… I swear its loaded with vanilla and orange zest. Taste is drier, more floral. Some citrus, orange zest, and herbal notes. Different than the aroma would suggest… it seems disconnected. Interesting.

[backlog] 24-01-15 / bottle in Merimbula, Australia. One of my first IPAs. Wasnt used to the bitterness at this point. I started rating my beers with Untappd and a few basic notes. Now I want to rate them on ratebeer. So my rating sometimes lack some information. Just ignore it, it is for my personal statistics. Untappd-Rating 2.5/5

355 ml bottle, from Fakta Hirtshals. BB date is hard to read, but probably 25.03.2014. Slightly hazy deep golden to amber colour, moderate to low head, slightly off-white. Strong and unpleasant aroma of stale orange marmalade and rotting fruits and vegetables. Distinctly hoppy and resinous flavour, better than the aroma, not too sweet, with a solid bitterness in the finish.

Some of the smoother, lighter hops but still robust enough to tingle the taste buds. Orange copper body with small creamy head. Overall citrusy nature, but allowing the malts to shine through. All around great IPA

8th July 2014: Orange County, on my daughters balcony. The bottle poured out a golden/orange/amber brew with a full but thin beige head. Hops lead the way with citrus notes filling both your nose and taste buds. For me this was too much on the lemon side, not my scene really. Nothing wrong with this, just not my cup of beer. medium bodied and refreshing enough I suppose. Scored objectively.

Can at El Camino in SD. Maltier than expected but good hops flavor - quite sharp. Solid IPA.
