A higher gravity seasonal version of the year-round Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale. It’s made with Westmalle Trappist yeast that creates those curious phenolic off-flavors that are freakin’ everyone out these days. Massively dosed with boatloads of wheat and pale malt and finishes with a big, hoppy ending.

Sample at BrewPub
A - Dark orange to yellow and hazy
S - Not much going on with the nose. Hints of grass and lemons
T - Nuttiness and some bitterness up front. Some wheat and apples are present. Very bitter finish with no funk or tart.
M - medium mouthfeel and light carbonation.
O - Was expecting more. It’s more fruity due to the different yeast straing but not very complex.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 8/6/2012. Pours crystal clear golden amber color with a nice 2 finger dense white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a thick cap that lasts. Some nice soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of orange zest, grapefruit, lemon, pepper, clove, banana, bubblegum, honey, caramel, earth, and herbal spiciness. Fantastic aromas with great balance and complexity. Taste of grapefruit, orange zest, pepper, clove, light banana, pine, lemon, and herbal spiciness. Nice amount of peppery bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of citrus, pepper, clove, banana, pine, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance of spicy yeast flavors with hop flavors; with a good bitterness/sweetness balance as well. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very crisp and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with pretty much zero warming noticed after the finish; extremely smooth to sip on. Overall this is a fantastic Belgian IPA. Fantastic yeast character and hop flavor balance; and very crisp and smooth to sip on. Wow, outstanding.

Bottle, Brew Dog Bar, Edinburgh. Hazy darkish golden orange pour with a thin off white head. Enticing nose of fragrant grassy hop mixed with notes of vanilla and a little funk. Smooth mouthfeel. Interesting and tasty flavour with some pronounced belgian yeast character jostling with some decent hop bitterness and balancing sweet malts. Alcohol fairly prominent. Enjoyable brew with plenty of character.

Bottle, 22oz, thx to Meilby. It’s almost clear, golden in color and with a lacings leaving off-white head. The aroma is sugary sweet, with pine cones and tropical fruits. Quite pleasant. It’s a bit too sweet on the palate, but still it’s quite dry. Full body. Sweetness, biscuity maltyness, a fine bitterness, tropical fruits and green pine cones, finishing fruity and bitter, not too sweet. A rather pleasant one, feels a bit too sweet, but still very nice. 120211

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Clear deep golden, small head Perfumy orange aroma. Fairly sweet, near full body, rounded mouthfeel. Orange peels and marzipan. Fruity, very hoppy Belgo ale. Very bitter finish. All focus on hops.

Bottle at the Brewdog Camden. Slight haze on this gold beer. Medium off white head. Light palate, starts soft and gets a little crispier thanks to some fine carbonation. Nice light touch of wild yeast, not too strong. Lovely fresh hops, great fruits - Mild grapefruit, tangerine, peach. Really well joined up great beer. Semi soft finish with a pleasant wild yeast aftertaste. Hides the alcohol incredibly well! Great stuff!
