Bottle from the brewery mail order. Light amber/golden colour with small bubbly golden head. Aroma is nice and hoppy, grassy and citrus, something floral, and a bit of biscuity malt too. Slight fruitiness in the background. Taste is not exciting, but still nice. Quite crisp, hoppiness is much more in the background allowing a nice maltiness to dominate. Some lingering sweetness and nice bitterness at the end. Slightly spritzy but very drinkable. Really surprisingly nice.

On tap at CBM Koenji. Light amber with a nice soapy off-white head. Aromas of biscuit, honey and light apricot. Taste is more of the same. Really wonderful balance between malt sweetness and hoppy bitterness. Almost perfectly balanced. A little on the boring side, but technically a very solid beer. Finish is slightly bittter with some nice sweetness that lingers. A malty lager. --- Beer merged from original tick of Kawabata Lager on 29 Jul 2015 at 22:51 - Score: 7

Draught at the brewpub. Deep gold, almost amber, with a tall, fine head. Malt-centered aroma, Urquel-like, with nice, though mild hopping. Great balance. Very nice Bohemian malt with a good hops grab. Fruity, malty, nice hop. Wow! A big surprise with rich, full-flavored malt.

Deep golden color. Very malty nose, full body with a rich malty mouth and hints of apricots and brandy. Rich malty finish. Nice. Re-rate at the brewery- grassy hoppy nose. A bit off balance, but moderately full body. Hops really shine are done nice, but the malt should be a bit cleaner. Still nice beer, with a bit more balance would be spectacular.
