dark brown color. Fantastic chocolate, dark malt with a touch if smoke in the nose. Very dry body, smooth as silk and perfectly balanced. Chocolate malt shines. Lovely.

Bottle. Nearly black, with a tall tan head. Sweet malt aroma, roasted but not burnt, rich and thick, creamy, caramel, molasses, a touch of chocolate. Sweet, rich malt flavor. Slightly burnt like a stout, but just a touch. Thick, rich and creamy. Malt complexity close to classic dubbel bock, maybe not quite there, but very nice. Chocolate in the background, and slight alcohol heat. Finish is malty and rich with alcohol heat to balance. I like this beer- it is very well done, much better than their Christmas Bock, which tasted like a stout. This is probably the most authentic Japanese bock I’ve tried.
