Hazy pale golden colour, tall frothy white head, good retention and lacing. Restrained aroma, pale malt, grain, citrus, pine. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, rye, spicy notes. Bittersweet aftertaste, grainy, lingering orange pith. Medium body, oily texture, average carbonation, smooth, well-balanced, nice.

12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours moderate hazy/cloudy golden amber/light orange color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pine, honey, light caramel, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and moderate rye/bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pine, honey, light caramel, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus peel bitterness and rye spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, citrus peel, pine, spicy rye, toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate rye/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero lingering hop/rye astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is a great rye pale ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine hops and moderate rye/bready malt flavors; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the balanced bitter/spicy flavors. Very bright on hop flavors with great rye malt balance. Still tastes pretty fresh despite no can dating. A really enjoyable offering.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: pours orange with a white head. Aroma is rye malt, pine, and resin, and some underlying fruitiness. Taste is quite bitter, but there is also a definite smoothness to it. Aftertaste is long and lingering. Quite resinous. Pine there more than fruit. Good.

Can from Brooklyn
Hazy orange color, steady white head. Malty, citrus, a bit of rye in the nose. Medium-bodied. Lemony, citric, sweetish fruity hoppy flavor. A bit plasticky citrusness and alcohol in the finish,
