We love beasts of lore. Unicorns, Dragons, and untold combinations therein. When it came time to name our epic Russian Imperial Stout, it only made sense for an epic fantasy beast to become the namesake. Thus was born the Blaecorn Unidragon: part Black Unicorn, part Soul Dragon, and the ultimate mythical beast. This rich and complex brew was designed to improve with age, with aggressive hops and an intense dark malt bill that fill this Russian Imperial Stout with intense flavors and a full body.

Bottle, 2012. Pours dark black, small tan head that dissipates fairly slowly leaving some lacing on the glass. Aroma is quite roasty, anise, burned malts, cocoa powder, molasses. Flavor is light sweet and quite bitter, roasty, anise and dark dark chocolate. Medium plus body, lingering biting bitterness into the far finish. Some coffee ground notes as well. Solid impy for those who don’t like sweet stouts.

(Bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Dec 12 2014) Pours pitch black with pale tan head and little lace. Aroma of dark malts, treacle, moderate roast, light soy, slight smoke, touch of coffee. Up front there are a lot of dark malts, treacle, little roast, soy sauce. A bit more roast in the middle but still light, and some dark fruit? Finish is lightly bitter, lingering dark malts, touches of black coffee. Medium oily body with little carb. Alcohol pretty well hidden. Not a bad imperial stout by any means, almost too well integrated as nothing really jumped out at me, except that it might have been a touch towards the soy side of things. Well crafted but came across as good, not exceptional.

650cl bottle. Bbe 2014-12-17. @hotel room, Stockholm with the IT guru Jookos, ratebeer fame. Black, brown head. Coffee, dark chocolate in aroma, roastedness. Smooth stuff. Mild smoky, roasty, musty and quite dry. Long finish too dry, otherwise decent. Hides the abv decent.
