Bottle at Billie’s Bier Kafétaria in Antwerp. Snow white, dense, moussy, stable and lacing head over a hazy orangey golden coloured beer. Lovely DIPA aroma of pink grapefruit flesh, tangerine, papaja, paprika, toasted onion, sundried tomato, white pepper, cigarette tobacco, fried chicken, raw celery, hemp, toasted brown bread. Crisp onset of orange, pineapple and mango, sweet but in a clean way and paired with soft sourish and umami flavours for balance, medium carbo, thick caramelly malt body, smooth, biscuity with a toasted edge, beautifully supporting a rich, aromatic hop character unfolding in the finish, long, drying, very deeply bittering to the point where it becomes almost a bit ’abrasive’ so this a treat for hopheads, but not for the less experienced beer drinkers, I guess... Retronasal citrus and pine aromas and a dash of warming, whisky-like alcohol bring an end to this symphony of flavours. Certainly among the better DIPAs I had so far.

Pours a deep goldish orange with a tiny white head. First impression of the nose is very Belgian, like Westmalle Tripel or Duvel Triple Hop. Good yeast character with some mango and pineapple present. Boozy on the nose as well. Alcohol stands out pretty clearly on the palate. Quite a lot of bitterness that is noticeable on the finish. A big, bold beer with a high ABV that doesn’t necessarily come together perfectly.

Thanks to willisread for sharing the bottle! Poured into a taster showing translucent dark honey and amber tones with a thin ring of clean white foam. The nose shows deep sweet nose close to a Belgian ale. The palate is well carbonated and full bodied. Flavors of subtle malts and barely perceivable hints of mango and pineapple but a strong biting IPA bitterness that reaches its apex on the finish. A lot of finish on the linger but good hints of mango also.

Bottle from Bottle Baron. Hazy golden body with a medium off-white head. Steady carbonation. Aroma of melon rind, lime chutney and peppery earth. Flavour of honey, menthol, alcohol burn and lime sweets. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Intensely bitter, which I usually like, however I found this quite heavy going.

355ml bottle from Vinmonopolet Vika, shared with djoeye. Clear golden body. Beige head some of it remaining. Dried fruity smell, some vapour of alcohol. Flavoured of almond, honey, pine and dried fruits. Heavy stuff with noticeable alcohol. Alright, far from great though (Tromsø 27.07.2015).
