330 ml bottle. Thanks to MonsterMagnet for this bottle! Pours with a hazy amber color and a nice off-white head. Nice nose of citrus, gooseberry and nice pine-needles. Taste is slightly bitter, only a few fruit and very nice hops. Very good balanced. Light bodied and a nice dry finish..

Good cream-coloured head over hazy orange beer. USA citric hops, lots of spice, citrus, finish faintly peppery. In the flavour, the hops are a bit cheesy, still resin, pine, cypress. Low to medium carbonation, light body, bit slick. Superb nose; rest is quite decent but nothing more. Thanks, M & L V.! 8/4/7/3/14

Uiltje’s well-received session IPA, batch #Y17B040 with the new label, bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck. Heard a lot about this but never had it before. Thick-ish, irregular, snow white, moussy head, retaining very well on the edges but slowly dissolving into a pattern of flat ’islands’ in the middle, over an initially clear, deep and warm orange blonde, almost a bit amberish, equally hazy orange with sediment. Quite expressive, ’new’, zesty, piney and bit dank hoppy aroma of orange zest, dried grapefruit peel, pine resin, pink pepper, fried tomato skin, old biscuit, hints of bread crumbs, dried mango, freshly cut green bell peppers, paprika powder, dried field flowers, rainwater. Fruity, crisp onset, refreshing with subduedly sweetish notes of peach, pineapple and a touch of mango, with softly souring edges; hoppiness already pierces through from the start. Supple, lean body, medium carbonated, actually feeling fuller than 3.6% ABV; nice biscuity malt core, bit grainy as well but sufficiently ’rounded’, supporting an increasing hop bitterness which dries the second half of the palate with peppery, zesty and wormwood-like notes, leaving behind a long-lasting, quenching bitterness and releasing retronasal dried citrus peel, flower and pine impressions. This has everything a decent modern ’ISA’ needs: a luxurious New World hop bouquet, quenching hop bitterness, crispness and highly quenching properties. Exemplary for the style, I can recommend this to anyone not familiar with the session IPA concept yet. Cleaner and more to the point than its Nelson Sauvin predecessor (Uilskuiken NZ Session IPA, meanwhile already retired, apparently) but just as refreshing.
