An IPA, of course. We’re blending our two approaches to the IPA in this East Meets West IPA. Sierra Nevada’s malt body and profile was blended with the heavy-handed, very late hopping schedule employed by Tree House to create a new, hybrid IPA. Lightly bitter and heavy with citrus-like hop flavor.

Slightly hazy golden and light copper coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of grapefruits, oranges, citrus, grass and a dose of light herbal hops along with some mellow sugars and a touch of malt. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and very fruity flavours without much bitterness, but more of a dry and juicy flavour from the hops/fruits. Aftertaste shows some light bitterness, some mellow hops and herbal flavours and a ton of juice and fruity notes throughout. Overall, a nice and refreshing beer with a lot of fruit qualities, some nice dry notes and a fresh hop flavour without any bitterness at all. Nice, but not an amazing IPA nor one that must be tried! Glad to see this in the sampler pack from Sierra Nevada and a worthy addition. I sampled this sixteen ounce pint can purchased as part of the mixed twelve pack, purchased at Whole Foods in Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia on 12-August-2017 for US$25,99/twelve pack, sampled at home in Washington on 31-August-2017.

Pint can pours with a near clear deep gold body that supports a thin dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up a dash of pine hops and then thin cantaloupe and tangy tangerine. The taste delivers a pleasing blend of bitter pine, pineapple and grapefruit hoppiness. The bitterness is met by a juicy cantaloupe and mango kind of malt sweetened flavor hoppiness. Solid IPA

Poured from a 16 oz can. Aroma is citrus forward with grapefruit, orange, pine and resin. Light cracker malt notes and medium light caramel. Hints of tropical fruit. Pours a very clear, pale gold with a large, frothy, moderately thick, white head that recedes steadily. Moderate lacing and small legs. Flavor has a light sweetness and a fairly dry finish with some cracker malt and caramel notes. Moderately strong bitterness with some lingering resin and pith notes. Moderate grapefruit with lighter orange and faint tropical fruit. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright IPA but it seems more like a west coast IPA than anything Treehouse is putting out these days. Too much malt, with too much bitterness and a resiny, grapefruti hop profile.

The First to sell out at the Beer Zen Salt Valley thing but luckily someone shared some with me. Medium bodied with a soft round carbonation and juicy fruit hop aroma & flavor. Not as full on as Tree House but better than I’d been led to expect.

Bottle to pint glass. Pours light orange and moderately clear with dusting of white across the top. Orange and slight pine balance with sweet malt for a thoroughly enjoyable beer.
