It is a great joy to see so many chef’s getting more and more enthusiastic about beer/food pairings. In the Netherlands we enjoyed inspiring beer dinings at ‘Dertien’, a superb restaurant in Rotterdam. That’s why we immidiatly said ‘yes!’ when chef Pepijn proposed a special brew to enforce this trend. We brew a hazy purple weizen - ish with elderberries. The pairings to go with this beer are much awaited! It’s name is a tribute to the legendary Jimmy Hendriks and Prince. Purple Haze & Purple Rain

Sampled @ Oirschots Bierfestival 2017. Looks like dark cassis, firm pink head. Smell and taste both remind me of cassis as well. Forest fruits and blueberries.

Bottle at Gekke Geit. Hazy dark purple with small light pinkish beige head. Lots of elderberries, blackberries, sweet malts and dough, light herbs, a bit of lime peel. Quite fruity with decent malt base. Medium sweet, light bitter and a tart touch. Medium bodied with nice creamy feel. Quite like this!

Bottled 10-4-17. Purple for sure. Stinks a bit, cassis with sweaty socks. Tastes a bit better, berries and wood present. Original for sure!
