Stovepipe can. Stamped on the bottom--canned 0n 10-29-18 @09:20 and the words "Kangaroo Sauce." Pours a opaque dense black color with a medium sized brown head that soon dissipates into a fine surface scum. The aroma is distinct with anise, blackened grains, raisins and coffee. The taste mirrors the aroma with black licorice, coffee, mocha, raisins, bitter blackened grains and some whiskey barrel. The palate is full and oily with light carbonation. Finishes long with lingering whiskey barrel and bitter walnuts. Overall: Decent concoction--remarkable for an Impy stout in a can, and remarkable for being an Impy that is not overly sweet. Paired well with some Snowdonia English cheddar.

Can from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is intense bourbon and oak upfront, with dark malt, chocolate, roast, some vanilla and toasted coconut. Flavour is mild sweet and bitter, hint of booze. Body is medium to full. Beautiful barrel aging, where stout and bourbon lovingly embrace.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 33B: Bourbon / 20C). Can 35.5 cl - Batch 143 (BB undeclared - canned on 01/05/21). AROMA: medium-high vinous bourbon aroma with slight wood note, faint dark chocolate in the background. APPEARANCE: dark brown color and opaque with slight ruby highlights. medium-low to low brown head with medium-low retention. leg formation. TASTE: initial medium bourbon flavor, followed by dark chocolate, molasses and a bit of roasty malt. initially somewhat sweet quickly balanced by medium bitterness from hops and roasted malt. finishes almost dry and slightly roasty but not burnt. MOUTHFEEL: velvety high body with medium-low carbonation. alcoholic warmth not very harsh. OVERALL: although the aroma is a bit bourbon-agressive, the flavor seems to be more balanced rendering it a good sipping IS.
