a bit juicer than other table brett beers but still very dry. Excellent funk as always

Murky light golden color. Frothy white head. Excellent dry funky nose with decent sourness and some apricot, citrus and hay underneath. Light body, medium bitterness, decent funk, hay and citrus notes. Well balanced. Refreshing. Excellent.

Nice stuff. Satisfyingly Orval like. Lacks a bit of body but the Brett is there and that mineral thing. Easy going. Decent effort.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Lior D. Clear yellow. Bretty, funky, floral, soapy, minerals, a bit of fruitiness, dry, earth, bitter finish.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours hazy, light brown, dark orange, something between those colours. This beer is not really about looks - and it does smell wonderful. Funky autumn, lots of brett and horse blanket in the nose. Not too much though, some fruity notes existing there as well. Home made apple juice. I take the first sip and yes! Not really sour but simple, easygoing brett fermented beer. I could drink this all day, really. Reminds me Pinta’s Table Brett - no wonder that even the names are similar. Wonderful, highly drinkable beer, full of funk.

Tap at Kyoto Festa. Deep yellow, cloudy, with lace. Funky brett nose, grapefruit, leather, apricot, wheat. Very bretty flavor, peach, yogurt, horse blanket. Smooth and almost flat. Could use a bit more carbonation. Not quite there yet, but interesting and heading in the right direction for sure.

2016 re-rate: Bottle shared. Different beer clearly. Lovely musty nose with cobwebs and basement notes with a hint of wood. Lots of carbonation with some earthiness and almond-like cherry pit notes. Dry finish. Pretty solid. Bottle from Hasegawa. Pours a deep, clear brown with no head. Light brett aromas on the nose with some blackberry and vinous notes. Very, very soft carbonation (almost zero to be exact) with a watery mouthfeel. Very vinous without much malt to support the brett and wine-like flavors. It’s like a wannabe lambic with no carbonation. Flavor isn’t terrible, but still another Songbird beer needs a lot of work. Seems like they have some interesting ideas, but just can’t put it together. --- Beer merged from original tick of Brett Table Beer on 29 Oct 2015 at 21:48 - Score: 5
