Farmhouse ales originated in the French region of Belgium and offered refreshing relief to seasonal farm workers ("saisonniers") from the summer heat. When we set out to brew our saison, we were intent on paying homage to its heritage while also giving it our own unique twist. Fermentation coaxes out peppery, herbal and slightly tart attributes, and releases slightly smokey, earthy esters, while a touch of acidulated malt and wheat lends the perfect complement. Resulting in a refreshing palate pleaser regardless of the season.

On tap at Portland Craft, pours a cloudy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is fairly sweet, with fruity esters and farmhouse yeast. Flavour is a sweet estery mess, with bubblegum, tons of sweet esters and a hint of saison yeast. This is the quintessential example of a terribly done American saison. Very poor.

On Tap Hazy light yellow peach color. The classic farmhouse yeast notes were tame and soft. Light soft palette probably in part from the wheat and oats. Pleasant.

Deep gold with lace. Stanky American saison nose, spicy, phenolic yeast. Sweet, malty, and spicy, all I dislike about American saisons. Boring and cloying.
