Tap at the brewery - should probably be listed as a belgian strong ale - turbid amber - nose is mostly.remnants of the various barrel.treatments - some wine, a lot of whiskey, some oxidation - flavor is much the same - dusty yeast, spicy phenolics, moderate doughy sweetness, grape must - oxidation and muddled barrel character - some interesting muskiness, especially in the nose, but otherwise watery and indistinct.

Nose of wood, butter, honey, stewed peaches. Cloudy orange-brown color with lace. Rich and oily flavor, lots of stewed stone fruits. Interesting but needs work.

Medium Amber color. Very big nose with lots of oak, sherry, whiskey and not really sour and boozy. Not really integrated, but ok. Could use more aging to round things out. Boozy finish. The more I drank the less i am enthused. Boozy finish. Meh.

Sample at the taproom. Hazy golden color with a medium white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, fruit and malt. Medium-bodied with a vinous oak character and flavors of yeast, vanilla and malt. The finish is fruity with a red wine and malt aftertaste. Above average overall.
