2XSMASH is the newest in our line of single malt and single hop India Pale Ales, brewed with Mosaic hops and Special pale malt. Even simplified to one variety of hop and one type of malt, it is amazing how complex the flavor is. Mosaic hops are known for their luxurious tropical citrus notes like passionfruit and work absolutely brilliantly with the richness of Special pale malt. Cheers!

12 oz. bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of earthy hops, some light tropical fruits and bready malt. Flavour is showing an obviously too old IIPA, with earthy hops, subdued tropical fruits and bready caramel malt. This could've been good fresh, but as of now, it's too muted. I'll rate it generously due to the age and my neglectfulness at looking at the bottling date.

Clear copper and light amber coloured body with an orange glow and a thinnish, two centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of deep rich hops, metal, alcohol, caramel malt and some lighter sugars noticeable. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malt notes showing caramel, toffee and earth along with a good deal of hops, but not biting nor horribly bittering. Aftertaste shows a robust flavour with a good balance, but nothing striking nor great. Overall, a decent Imperial IPA with some good flavours, but nothing that makes this a ’must-drink’ or necessarily worthwhile. That said, it’s not a bad beer or anything, either. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia on 16-February-2016 for US$1,99 sampled at home in Washington on 21-July-2016.

Very nice hops on head. Lots of orange and some caramel. Amber pour with good head and lacing. Light sweet finish without much bitterness. Tap at Assawoman.

Lots of hops here, with citrus and some pine. Pours golden with decent head and lacing. Finishes bitter. Well-balanced without being super original. Seems more like an imperial IPA than an American Strong Ale. Tap at Black Squirrel.

Bottle. Amber beer with a cream head. Grapefruit and light tropical fruit aroma. Over-ripe tropical fruit flavor with light grapefruit. Medium bodied. Decent bitterness. Over-ripe tropical fruit lingers with light grapefruit.

Bright orange-amber. Thin head. Fairly assertive, dankish hop nose. Has a very sweet palate, bit of hop accent. Boozy finish. Ok

A golden ale with a thick frothy lacing light mocha head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with resinous floral hops, light citrus pulp, very nice and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity biscuit malt with loads resinous floral hops, pink grapefruit, very nice and smooth. On tap at North Country Brewfest 2016.

Just another one of those ubiquitous IPA brews. Slight aroma of BO. Clear orangy thang. Big thick viscous feel on this one. Mouth coating soapy experience. Ruins your taste buds, terribly on style. What else can be said? What ev. Taste buds ruined for a while. I came, I saw, I drank it.

On tap at the hollywood gardens. The smell is sweet candy. Bitter initial taste bud blast almost knocks me off my stool. Initially there is some fruit and spices in there but it fades to rude medicine after a while. Can’t feel any co2. Ling bitter nasty medicinal finish, wew. Not impressed by some of these strong ales.

Bottle from Bert’s Deep golden color with a bubbly off white head that persists. Grassy pine and spicy hop nose with a sweet bready maltiness. Light toasty character in the malt flavor adds a bit of complexity. Big hop bitterness and a touch of alcohol. Pretty decent brew if not a bit one dimensional.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a dark orange-bronze color with a medium sized foamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was dry and perfumey. The flavor was bitter with moderate perfumey, floral and herbal hops - lots of bite and then more perfume. Long perfume and herbal finish. Medium body. Ok.
