Spicy yet smooth. Brewed with 10 exotic spices.
This beer's roots are in Belgium, and the classic Wit biers produced by Belgium's brewers. The style gets its name from the white, milky appearance of this unfiltered wheat ale. The brewers of Samuel Adams® beer, taking inspiration from the Belgians, have created a classic of their own. On the malt side, we use malted two row Pale barley, malted wheat, and Munich malt to give this beer a crisp, malty, cereal finish and smooth mouth feel. The hops used are Noble Tettnang Tettnanger hops. At the end of the kettle boil, we add a proprietary spice blend to give Samuel Adams® White Ale a unique and complex flavor, without being overpowering or cloying. The spice blend includes orange and lemon peel, dried plum, grains of paradise, coriander, anise, hibiscus, rose hips, tamarind, and vanilla. It is this special blend of spices that gives Samuel Adams® White Ale its unique character, complexity and refreshing drinkability. The beer is coarse filtered, leaving a white haze from the malt proteins. Our proprietary top fermenting ale yeast ferments the beer, imparting its signature character - bright and slightly fruity.

draft - Pours a medium head that fades to thin and hangs around awhile. The aroma is of wheat and yeast. The flavor includes some nice citrus notes and mild spices. The finish is clean and refreshing. This is a pretty good effort.

Bottle. Light lemon malt aroma with hints of cinnamon and nutmeg. Cloudy tan with moderate head. Very light wheat malt with slight cinnamon hint and the merest suggestion of fruit esters. Basically more like a middle of the road American wheat than a witbier. Still easy to drink and non-offensive.

on tap-pours a full, creamy white head that laces with cloudy orange color. Aroma is yeast, wheat, mild spicing. A bit of lambic tone. Nice.

Bottled. Well, I’ve done too well with the bottled, American made wits I’ve fouynd so far--guess it’s hard to balance between the needs of mass production. This wasn’t too bad, though. Malt flavor is kind of light, but there’s a decent spiciness working its way around. A slight touch of citrus a little later on. It actually had a bit of an alcoholic buzz, too.

Bright amber colour. Slight citrus note, with florals as well. Spicy - nutmeg, marmalade. Kind of bizarre - a bit of a trainwreck really, with no particular focus and nowhere near enough malt or body to back up those spices.

Pour is cloudy honey color with a nice white head. Aroma is malty and zesty with some lemon in there. Flavor is nice and pleasant. Citrus with some vanilla extract in there. Very tasty and smooth and a nice example of the style.

Bottle Pours a hazy golden honey color with a very thick lasting white head. Aromas of apricots and mildly of its belgian inspiration. Light malts and wheat. Flavors are slightly spicy, very mild malt and mainly unfiltered wheat. Slight fuity hits as well. B\Very low on the bir\tterness and hops. Easy to drink and only that slightly chalky unfiltered aftertaste. Tasty.

Pours a hazy, dirty gold with a understated head. Aroma is mild and fruity... apricot? Fruit comes first, then wheat follows with a mild hop finish. Pretty good offering for something a little different.

I never thought I would like a Sam Adams so much. Aroma is complex with wheat, spices including coriander, apricot. More orange rather than cloudy yellow like I expect a wit. Flavor of wheat, spices; again with coriander and others, and citrus; sour grapefruit. Sour while drinking it, and a nice sour finish. Nothing like a gueze, but still sour. Best Sam Adams beer ever.

Seems pretty similar to the old Spring Ale. Cloudy copper, large head. Somewhat herbal and spicy aroma, maybe some coriander but the rest is indistinct. Flavor has many layers but still indistinct, bitterish, semi-dry finish. Decent.
