Our flagship beer, and biggest seller, Pot Kettle Black is one of New Zealand’s most widely awarded beers. PKB, as it is affectionately known, is a juxtaposition of beer styles: fresh and hoppy, yet as dark as night and malty rich. The black beer that has converted many a person who’d formerly professed a fear of dark ales… and called a "real foodie beer" by every chef we meet!

Bottle @ benzai. Black colour with a small light brown head. Smells hoppy, roasty, sweet, vanilla. Tastes roasty, vanilla, something weird, slightly lavender or something? Medium body, soft carbo.

Bottle @ derat, large sample. Dark color, medium frothy head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, coffee, some piney hops. Creamy texture. Roasty bitterness in taste, but also quite hoppy like a hoppy porter without going towards a black ipa. Good beer.

Bottle at Klooster, Netherlands, Thursday 8th October 2015. Pours black with a large tan head. Straddling the divide between a hoppy porter and a BIPA, this beer works very well as it’s doesn’t lean too much to either of these stykes. This is an easy drinking beer with some light malty touches and a hoppiness (though not excessive) throughout. Good stuff. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.4

Bottle shared thanks to Scotty001. Almost black with beige head. Lots of roasted malts, espresso, dry cocoa powder, light smoked meats, some light lime and grapefruit, soft wild flowers and herbs. Taste is mainly roasted bitter with a touch of sweet malts. Medium bodied with a bit of a dry feel. Quite nice.

Bottle. Darkly coloured black beer with a very strong light brown coloured head. The aroma is deeply roasted, and the flavour is very deeply roasted with bags of bitterness and a slight espresso coffee feel. Overall a nice very strongly flavoured porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
