Our flagship beer, and biggest seller, Pot Kettle Black is one of New Zealand’s most widely awarded beers. PKB, as it is affectionately known, is a juxtaposition of beer styles: fresh and hoppy, yet as dark as night and malty rich. The black beer that has converted many a person who’d formerly professed a fear of dark ales… and called a "real foodie beer" by every chef we meet!

Deep dark brown colour, good frothy tan head, half-way lasting, good lacing. Aroma roasted malts, cocoa, dried dark fruits. Mild flavour, medium sweet and light bitter, light roasted malts, dark chocolate, hint of vanilla, average duration, mild sweetbitter finish, light spicy notes. Light but nice and drinkable porter.

Bottle at London Drinker BF 2016. Black beer lasting tan head. Dark chocolate aroma like 60%cocoa chocolate. Dry in the mouth. Dry on finish. Definitely hopped gives a little lime on the finish but not a black ipa. You know what it’s not as thick and dense as an impy stout but I kinda like it dark chocolate and lime hop but proper bitter hop I rather liked it .too fizzy but fun and likeable and fresh tasting. Put a smile upon my face

33cl bottle. Jet black pour with a bit of beige head that gives way to a sticky lacing. Smells of roasted malts, caramel and cherries. More sweet that I expected, with notes of artificial flavouring, vanilla and dark cherries. Watery.

Bottle from the Blue Moon, Cambridge. Very dark brown with a hint of light coming through. Cappuccino, hot fudge, caramel and a suggestion of smoke. Sweet at first with a tantalisingly dry finish. Beef gravy, espresso and liquorice in the bitter aftertaste. Intense and unbelievably well done.

Thnx to Anna and Adam. Pours black, not much head. Smell is full, weird, some dark malts, earhty, in an un-common way, leaves. Taste is mild, faded bitter, thin, green leaves, aromatic, some spices. OK carbo.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque dark brown color, average sized beige to light brown head. Smell and taste malts, a bit weird, some sort of weird vanilla flavor or something. Don’t know what it is but I don’t like it. Lactose? Can’t put my finger on it, but it’s weird. Silky mouthfeel.
