Our winter beer is a dark and heartwarming beer with a full pure, slightly sweet taste and long soft bittery aftertaste. The ingredients are: seven types of malt (including rolled oats), two types of Belgian hops, brewing water and yeast. This is the ideal beer to make a cold and chilly winter evening cosy.

Bottle at level 42, thanks to Wingman. It pours dark ruby - brown with a thick tan head. The aroma is very spicy, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, treacle, toast and earthy roast. The taste is sweet, sticky, treacle, festive spice, candi sugar, sugared plum, Dandelion & Burdock, alcohol, ginger and dried fruits with a dry, spiced finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. A pretty ok spiced Belgian strong. Couldn’t drink too much of it though.

Bottle picked up in a shop in Brugge last week. A dark brown coloured pour with a medium beige head on top. Typical Belgian spice, caramel aroma. Tastes sweet, malty, dark fruit, caramel, spice. Decent Belgian winter fayre.

Opaque black. Small off-white head, shows nice retention and some lacing though. Aroma shows a soft yeasty and sugary base with notes of liquorice, slight spiciness and maybe a hint of dried fruits. Not super intense but definitely very nice. Taste has a caramel malts base and sugary sweetness, its both sweet and soft. Notes of liquorice, slight coffee, dark fruits more easily noticeable as the beer warms up. Again a slight hint of spiciness. Overall it’s obviously mostly sweet, but those light coffee notes and a slight hint of bitterness in the aftertaste are bringing good balance. Body is a bit lighter than your average per style, average carbonation, overall very easy but still warmingly soft. Very good stuff

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Dave. Pours clear brownwitha frothy, tan head. Nice Belgian yeast in the nose, ripe berries, toffee. Medium sweet flavour with with nice phenolic character, more yeast, toasted wheat, caramel. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish with toasted sugars, toffee, vanilla ripe berries, sturdy Belgian yeast. Lovely. Classic.

Bottle split at L42 Xmas mash ooooop, thanks to Wingmane, 19/12/16. Rich mahogany brown with a decent beige cap. Nose is fruit loaf, spice, toffee, nutty, dates, light yeast scrape, brown bread. Taste comprises fruit loaf, hint of banana, toffee, light booze, figs, dates. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with alight boost. Decent enough Belgo Stronge.

Bottle shared on Level 42 19/12/2016. Many thanks to Wingman Dave for this one. A reddy brown brown coloured pour with a halo of light tan head. Aroma is nutty malts brown sugars, Christmas spices, brown sugars. Flavour is composed is sweet malts, nutty, brown bread, sugars, Belgian yeast. Palate is medium sweet, moderate carbonation, liquorice. Not bad.

Bottle sampled at Essen Christmas Beer Festival ’16. Dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, fudge. Flavour is heavy sweet. Above medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Flaska från Beergium. Drygt ett år gammal. Mahognyfärgad med lågt men krämigt skum. Fin söt djup doft med fudge, torkad frukt, karamelliserat socker, rostade nötter, choklad, aningen sherry. Mjuk rund smak, komplex och välbalanserad, riktigt snygga söta maltiga smaker i flera lager, lätt aniskryddig med aningen beska. En riktigt fin vintervärmare.
