DIFFERENCE FROM ORIGINAL RECIPE:
To balance these aggressive hop profiles we’ve switched to English specialty malts, which produce a lighter hue and replace the caramel notes with a very slight toast. These changes will bump the ABV from 5.2% to 5.9%, maintaining Point the Way's low-ABV status while optimizing hop flavor and complexity.

Can. It pours a lightly hazy, golden body and a dense, finger-thick white head. The aroma is sweetish and fruity, peaches and pine cones spring to mind. Drier on the palate than expected, luckily, but there’s some sweetness going on. Nice bitterness too, and both pine cones and tropical fruits in the flavor. Medium body, with pleasant carbonation. Mostly bitter finish, with the tropical fruits chiming in. Dry. A decent beer indeed, and definitely worth the price at less than two dollars. 130805

16oz can, no glass used and no visuals for beer other than "can." The aroma has resiny pine hops and a bit of mildly roasted malts. The taste delivers a good deal of pine hops that lean heavily toward resiny bitterness. Behind the pine hops I get slivers of grapefruit citrus hops as well as a light malt roastiness. This has a pretty nice load of hops and flavor for a 5% beer but it is a bit un-refined as the malts and the hops don’t go all that well together. But if your need is hops then this will work.

On tap at City Beer. Large amounts of citrus, dank and earth. Pours a clear yellow-orange with full white head that remains all the way down the glass. Very bitter with orange and sweet malt backbone. Medium-thin mouthfeel with semi-dry finish.

Can, pours a clear copper with a small white head. Aroma of piney hops, and some bready caramel malt. Flavour of piney hops, a metallic tinge, and some crisp biscuity malts. Nothing special here, but brewed very competently. Good IPA.

Can. Pours clear amber, medium off white head, nice lacing. NIce citrus and light pine aroma. Flavor is about the same, light passionfruit, light sweet, light bitter. Light body, oily texture. Pretty damn good for the ABV.

Deep copper coloured body with a very clear glow and a thick, eight centimetre tall frothy tan head. Aroma of light grassy and cardboardie hops with a lot of yeast notes, some unfinished wort smells and a bit of apple sweetness. Light to Medium-bodied; Grassy and earthy/nutty hop flavours at first with a very mild sweetness, a rather pungent cardboadie maltiness and some light yeast flavours at the tail end. Aftertaste quite mild and unflattering - some caramelised malt flavours with a hint of hops, but not much. Overall, not such a good IPA and a lot worse than I was expecting given the high scores - not really worth trying and definitely not worth bringing back across the country as I did. I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Total Wine in Tustin, California on 04-August-2012 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 02-December-2012.

On draught at Heroes Bar & Grill. The beer is a clear orange-gold color with a medium fizzy white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Latticework lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, citrus and toffee. Light-bodied with a citrusy hops character and notes of grass and malt. The finish is mildly hoppy with a short fruity aftertaste. Decent overall.
