Draught at Beer Belly Higobashi. Dark brown, close to black, with a fine, low head. Big smoky nose, solid malts, caramel and chocolate. Great smooth body, big and rounded, with wonderful balance. Great malts, very nice level of smoke—less than a classic Bamberger, but just a bit less. Grainy chocolate and some caramel, good level of sweetness, and a touch of tang. A wonderfully crafted beer with the right level of smoke for high drinkablilty. Excellent beer from the new leader in German-style beers in Japan.
