This Belgian-style Golden Ale was brewed in 2002 to celebrate the birth of the first son of our brewmaster. Named Sammy Strong Ale after Richard Samuel Norgrove VI, this cellar-aged beer is very malty, with a slight caramel sweetness from Turbinado sugar, and faint hints of bitter orange and coriander.

Bomber from Schultsc. Thanks for the great trade for this bottle filled in 2002!!! Pours very dark brown with a fizzy transient light tan head. Aroma is like mildly sour cola with raisin. Med body. Pretty smooth. Light heat. Dark malt, chocolate and raisin flavors. It is amazing how this has aged. It seems fresh!

On tap @ O’Brien’s. Pours clear gold with infused copper hues and expansive off white head. The aroma is light with sweetness, mild spices and a hint of tartness. The taste is sweet up front and moves more fruity with green apples and cantaloupe (just under ripe). There’s also a consistent lime then slight lemon tartness throughout.
