Power, strength, virility… these are the values of Bracongo's oldest dark beer, Doppel Munich. Its subtle balance between a pleasant taste and a pronounced bitterness, rewards the strongest after a hard day's work. Doppel Munich is present in several African countries where it represents the African worker each time.

22/VI/14 - 72cl bottle @ home - BB: n/a (2014-654) Thanks to Akke and Jelle for the bottle!

Clear red brown beer, creamy irregular beige head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: malty, caramel, grains, hay, sweet, sugary, some banana. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: caramel, pretty malty, bit sour, grains, soft bitterness, hay. Aftertaste: chocolate malts, bit sweet, caramel, sugary, little bitter, lots of dried fruits. Actually not even that bad...

Drank a lot of this in Kinshasa, it was my preferred beer of all the local stuff. Nice malty flavour, a kind of unpasteurised effect, which hinted at some kind of complexity - which is quite a find in this part of the world! A decent dark beer, has no peers in the Congo.

Test vom 26.6.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 9,8,8,8,6,8 - 8,00

Hazy chestnut-copper colour, full of UFO’s; thick dirty cream-like head, leaving textbook lace. Very nutty nose, pointing right at oxydation. Sweet-estery, milky even. Bottle bears no evidence of a BBDate, might have been on the shelf of the African toko for ages... Again nutty, vaguely bready. Definitely aged, maybe even some lightstrike. Not really bad, however; sweetish, sweet corn, oxydized malts. Extremely light, empty palate despite the oxydized malts. Taste fades away very quick, leaving nothing behind. Poor brew, saved against all odds by its aging.
