My first quadrupel to taste from a new NL seller. I lift the cap off the 33 cl bottle and tilt inside of my substantial Straffe Hendrik snifter. The view is an amber-caramel body with a slight head of parchment tan foam. Steady carbonation. I have a smell and get ripe fruit, bread and something peppery. The drink is all right, no real excitement. Malt, spices, just a touch of plums and wheat bread. More bitter than sweet and not much of either. The sensation is full, there is that fortunately. Tolerable but there are numerous better in this, my favorite style.

33 cl. bottle @ home.
Clear dark amber to brown with a beige head. Full druity aroma of raisins, figs, prunes and dark caramel. Sweet taste with a smooth sweet slightly warming finish. I'm not always a fan of Klein Duimpje but this one is above par.

Almost black with thin creamy head. Aroma and flavour have an abundance of bay leaf. Too much in fact. Pleasant rich texture but flavour is out of balance.
