Farmhouse - Saison Regular Out of Production
Score
7.38
ABV: 8.0% IBU: 35 Ticks: 147
A not so traditional Farmhouse saison or ‘seasonal’ style beer brewed to develop complex fruitiness and acidity. Brettanomyces yeast is added, which over time diminishes the malt and hop character and accentuates the dry, fruity & spicy characteristics.

Bottle from Beergium. Aroma is peppery yeast, bready malt, bretty funk, plenty of tart ripe fruits, citrus, touch of apricot. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet and lightly bitter. Body is medium. Nicely bretty, sweet fruity Saison, well-rounded with a good body.

Backlog. best by 3/2018, drank early 2019 but figured with the Brett it would be fine. Well.... it was a gusher. When I’d cleaned up the mess and could finally pour and later drink, it tasted of sweetish malt and surprisingly not much funk. It smells funkier and fruitier than it tastes. The taste is mostly grainy, yeasty malt. It’s alright but didn’t impress me hugely. It’s hard to rate when it’s apparently over the hill, but don’t assume it will age well beyond the BB date.

Bottle picked up from Mikkeller webshop somewhere in Denmark and consumed at home Sunday 17th January 2021 after a mammoth cleaning snow off of the drive, now listening to Billy NoMates self titled album, cooking lots of Mexican food. Pours light hazy amber with a white head, Brett on the nose, zappy fruity, lemony, streaky. Nice.

I'm not a bretta fan so I had to be talked into trying this. Lovely hazy body with lasting head. Fruit aroma, sits in the nose. Full taste good on a hot day after work. Long finish

Bottle. Aroma is great, Brett, fruity, apples, light funk, yoghurt. Taste is similar, Brett to the front, citrus, tropical fruit, pineapple and mango, strawberry too, light dustiness. Like a fruitier orval. Maybe a bit of booze in the body after the first few sips.

Draft. Amber body with a frothy, off-white head. Aroma of floral hops, bread, toasted grain, funk, basement, band aid, apple. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. The brett characteristics are not overwhelming but also not underplayed. A tad sweet for a saison, but far better than the one-trick clove bombs passing for saisons.
