Seizoen Bretta

Logsdon Farmhouse Ales in Washougal, Washington, United States 🇺🇸

Farmhouse - Saison Regular Out of Production
Score
7.38
ABV: 8.0% IBU: 35 Ticks: 147
A not so traditional Farmhouse saison or ‘seasonal’ style beer brewed to develop complex fruitiness and acidity. Brettanomyces yeast is added, which over time diminishes the malt and hop character and accentuates the dry, fruity & spicy characteristics.

375 ml bottle, bb 04/2022.
Slightly gushing. Orange, hazy body, with a big, frothy, lacing, light yellow head.
Aroma of Brett, citrus, sweet apples, stone fruits, dough, lemongrass, spices, slight barnyard.
Tastes similar, with more doughy notes.
Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation.
Finishes slightly alcoholic, medium spicy, a bit dry, yeasty, Bretty, doughy, a bit sweet, fruity.

Very nice, straight Brett Saison, with lovely fruit notes. Maybe a bit too much alcohol, although quite well hidden, I prefer this style a bit more sessionable. Still a really quaffable, balanced Saison.

Pours a lovely amber, leaning toward copper, thick head. Smells slightly barnyard funk with a very nice yeastiness. Flavor is insipid, straightforward offputting soapy bitterness does not belong, towards the finish there's a hint of the spiciness that the aroma leaned toward. Good beer to look at and smell, then suffer through or dump I guess, could've been a lot better, going to check the bottle to see how old.

Rating #5209, bottle from Douglas88. Active bottle, a little but of foaming, caught most in a tulip. Light Holden and hazy, huge head, subsides to one finger. Brett dominates the aroma, light, lemony, bread. Taste is also light, citrus, effervescent, grassy, floral. Nice flavors throughout. Mild tartness, but doesn’t interfere with the pure Saison notes. Thanks, Doug!

0,375l bottle at home at home shared with Powy. BB 11/2017. yellow hazy color, small white head. smells dusty, caramel, bit parfumy, light joghurt. nice smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of caramel, spices, bit citric, ripe fruits, some brett, tobacco, bit grassy, hints of joghurt. finishes lightly sweet with notes of brett, ripe fruits and tobacco notes. decent one overall, good complexity but a bit on the sweet side, not totally convincing taste wise, but overall quite enjoyable if a bit heavy.
