Farmhouse - Saison Regular Out of Production
Score
7.38
ABV: 8.0% IBU: 35 Ticks (all batches): 149
A not so traditional Farmhouse saison or ‘seasonal’ style beer brewed to develop complex fruitiness and acidity. Brettanomyces yeast is added, which over time diminishes the malt and hop character and accentuates the dry, fruity & spicy characteristics.

Bottle from Uiltje beershop a while ago, No 88841 BB 07/2020, 33 cl sample (all I could rescue out of a big gushing 75 cl bottle). Hazy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma is fruity of peach and apricot, some funky bubblegum and horseblanket, slight barnyard grain. Funky and quite peppery spicy, bit bubblegum sweetness, malty body. Considering the price and the fact half the bottle was spilled, major minus points.

A lightly hazed golden saison with a thin white head. In aroma, sweet fruity malt with light Brett, fruity esters, light funk, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light Brett, Orval beauty, light mineral notes, light citrus, nice and smooth. Bottle was more than 5 years old. Tasted at Chuck and April’s Cellar Tasting.

Poured from an older 750 ml bottle with a best by date of 02/2017. Aroma is fruit with a lot of pineapple, citrus and other tropical fruit. Some light cherry notes. Ight grain notes. Moderate phenolic characteristics with peppery and herbal, woodsy notes. This beer is a gusher. Pours a hazy, copper orange with a large, rocky, fluffyy, slightly off-white head that exhibits good retention as it slowly fades into itself. Moderate lacing and no legs. Flavor is somewhat sweet with light grain and caramel notes. Moderate pineapple with lighter citrus and tropical fruit. Some pear and red apple as well. Moderate phenolic notes with a bitter, herbal and woodsy note as well as some light peppery notes. Moderate bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a saison with nice fruit notes and decent phenolics. The carbonation is a major problem though and you lose about half the bottle (be sure to open it in the sink). The phenolic note could also be better as it has the bitter, woodsy note that can come across a bit medicinal.

On tap @Ma che siete venuti a fà (Rome). Pours deep golden, a bit unclear, with a minimal head. Aroma of bretta, yellow fruits, citrus, alcohol. Flavour is medium sweet with a decent sourness, alcohol. Medium body, light carbonation. Alcohol is too much intrusive. Rough.

On tap at St. Augustines on Rare Beer Tap Takeover. Aroma is bretts, fruity, skunky, even with spoiled meat notes. Taste is sweet-sour, with hoppy bitterness and skunky-meaty notes.

Gusher. Huge offwhite head. Hazy opaque orange body. Funky orangey barnyard aroma with odd herbal notes. Dry-sweet spicy herbal funky taste with orangey notes. Mid-bodied. Fizzy mouthfeel. Dryish spicy fruity bubblebum aftertaste with strong herbal finish. Strange beer, and dirtyish and unbalanced. Did not really enjoy much. (0.375l bottle, from Fish & Beer, Copenhagen.)
