Challenging expectations about a traditional style, London Calling fuses the past and present together in a beer that rings out with flavor. Starting with the familiar tune of British specialty malts, British East Kent Golding hops, and a British yeast strain, we then turn up the volume with a newer UK hop variety called Jester that adds notes of grapefruit, lychee, and blackcurrant.

Malts: Crystal 77L, Maris Otter, Munich
Hops: East Kent Goldings, Jester

On tap at Reuben's, pours a clear copper with a small beige head. Aroma brings out subtle English hops and bready malt. Flavour is very English, with English hops, bready malt and crisp biscuity malt. Nicely balanced, with a good English hop character. Very good.

Clear gold body with white head. Fruity hop aroma. Malt and hop in good measure in the taste. Crisp finish.

Tap at Devil Craft. Nice. Grainy, light sweet maltiness. Nice. Maybe a touch unexciting.

light Amber color. A bit boring. Lightly hopped. I wouldn’t say authentic at all.

Poured clean and coppery, sort of what I would expect a real bitter to look like. Aroma was there, malty and with a subtle hop kick. Taste also with a hint of herbal bitterness but mainly focusing on the power of the malts - while being quite easygoing and approachable. Tried to imagine if this beer reminds me England and true enough, visions of black cabs and double-deckers came to my mind. Maybe not too unique as a beer but not bad either.
