Ravens in the Scottish Highlands were once thought to possess the gift of second sight, the ability to see future events before they occur. Second Sight is built around malted barley with hops playing a balancing role. this beer is ruby in color with large malt aromatics, delicious malt flavors and a full bodied finish.

Tavour can: pours reddish brown with beige head. Aroma is toffee and some dark fruitiness. Not super complex. Pleasantly sweet.

12 ounce can from Tavour. Chestnut brown pour. Frothy tan head. Excellent lacing. Sweet roasted malt aroma hints at dark dried fruits and toffee. Flavor is dried dark cherries, caramel, toasted nuts. Sticky mouthfeel, spicy hops. Lacks the earthy, peaty malt character associated with the style. Tasty, nonetheless.

4oz pour at Chuck's Greenwood. Pours clear light brown with white head. Aroma is very light, bready malts. Flavour has toasted brown bread, crusts, dry caramel. Very nice scotch ale.

12oz can from New Colony. Dark clear brown, thin off-white white foamy head. Malty aroma, brown sugar. Taste is malty, earthy, but lacking the peaty notes known for the style. Near miss.

Tap at Devil Craft. Cola, or maybe Dr pepper. Malty sweetness, blackberries. Interesting. Nice doesn't feel like a scottish ale. When warms up, bit more maltiness, and what you'd expect. Fudge and toffee. --- Beer merged from original tick of Second Sight Strong Scotch Ale on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:05 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 8 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark amber with small beige head that lasts. The aroma is toasted malt, licorice, wood, smoke. Medium body, caramel, toast, smoke, boozy finish, good.

Draft 12 oz pour at the brewery. Pours a nice dark amber color with a patchy tan head. Has a very nutty aroma and flavor. Dry up front, malty, and a creamy body to it. Light vanilla and heavy caramel. Pretty standard scotch ale for me, but good overall. Would love to find the fun versions of this some day.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours strawberry/copper with a slight, transient beige head. Aroma of deeply roasted malts - almost like meat. Near full bodied. Flavor is fruity/roasty malt. A bit, woody is not the word, but it’s close. There’s an almost strawberry note to go with the very rich malts. Despite all the malt it’s not all that sweet. Tho certainly not dry. Hops dance around in the background. Maybe there’s a chocolate hint. It’s very "fresh", fruit wise. Really good, if you’re in a malty mood.

Draught at Elizabeth Station, Bellingham
Dark amber color with beige head. Elegant caramel brew, with light rye bread feeling; correct bitterness.
