Everett (1908-1939) was our grandfather’s brother; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his 13 siblings. In his honor, this porter is crafted from American malted barley, English and German roasted malts, American hops, our ale yeast, and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Decadent in its depth, with a complex backbone of chocolate, coffee, and malty sweetness, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Everett.

Bottle courtesy of luttonm, shared in Rome-Italy. Thank you. Dark brown almost black pour, medium foamy head. Nose: the most balanced coffee/chocolate aroma ever, some roasted. Mouth: clean Porter, none of the notes among coffee and chocolate dominate but all are there in armory. Just elegant! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Porter Blind Tasting #3. Biggest head of the blind tasting. Pretty dark brown head. Darkest beer of the blind tasting. First major aspect on the nose is coffee (afterwards, I actually interpreted this as phenolics). Its got some dry bitter leaf, which seems like a hop character. Not strong but the strongest of the blind tasting. Flavor, is clean, similar coffee (phenolyics), light hop bitterness. And again a mild fruity-tutti aspect. Afterward, I was glad to drink this beer and experience it without the hype. Decent stuff but definitely nothing spectacular (as has always been my experience of HF porters/stouts).
