Tap at the brewery. Nice, fruity, bit funky, marzipan, apple, light sourness. Second time from the bottle a few years later. Nice. Really got that black cherry thing going on. Lightly sweet but a little tartness at the end. Sounds like I was rating a different beer last time. Probably was trashed. --- Beer merged from original tick of Cerise Noir on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:03 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 9 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Hazy brown, beige foam there. Nose is a bit stuffy with malt graininess, saison yeast spice. Taste has fruits, cocoa cherries and again this saison yeast. Fruity saison with some dark malts? Nice and interesting although not very complex and perhaps not enough funk for me.

No head. Dirty sour nose. Slightly tart, cherries and chocolate malt. Simple but decent enough

Bottle share, thanks to Toby. Pours a reddish brown with a thin ring of beige cap. Aroma is mostly fruity sweet with a bit of malt. Just the faintest hint of being a farmhouse ale. Good flavor of sweet and sour fruity bits, a little funk. Finished dry and a bit tart.

On tap at The Commons, pours a deep dark purple-tinted black with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out notes of earthy yeasty notes and subtle dark cherries. Flavour is fruity and earthy in good balance, with dry dark cherries, earthy notes and light tartness. Excellent balance between all the elements - really digging this. Not too dirty, fruity or tart. Really great.

On tap at the Brewpub. Almost black with a small head. Aroma and taste of light funk, berries, some jam and light malt. A bit special but drinkable.

On tap at the new place. Pours a dark amber black color with a medium tan head. A big sweet cherry nose, funky oak. The flavor is slight tartness or sourness, big sweet cherries, some toasted malts. Solid interesting beer.
