A prestigious clear double malt beer with an alcohol content of 6.6%: this beer is the result of a careful, scrupulous selection of the most noble qualities of aromatic hops, yeast and a spring variety of distichous barley named "cherie". Ingredients are chosen with great attention and the experience of long-standing brewers.

Not the best doppo malto I’ve ever had, Clear dark bronze colour, minimal head, bitter after taste. Was worth trying, but not the best.

0.33l bottle. Pours orange/dark gold with a minimal head. Taste and aroma is nearly all malt. Probably I was excited much more than it was needed, but it was a bit disappointing for me.

Impressive looking label and bottle neck covering, brown 33cl bottle, best before July 2008, drank 1st Nov 2007. Poured into one of my Duvel glasses, why? Because it claims to be a Birra Doppio Malto and is styled on this site as an European Pale Lager. It could have been a Duvel if the white head had been twice the size, but it still looked good. A clear golden yellow with bubbles rising though the body up to the head, which refused to stay as large as it started out at. Yet again an almost odourless lager, it gets my standard 3 score. Where has the double malts gone? Not into the aroma that’s for sure. This breweries normal beer must be insipid because their ’Gran Riserva’ is nothing to shout about. There is some malt in there somewhere and the 6.6% alcohol can be found, but that is all. it is better than a bog standard Italian lager, but that isn’t saying much is it? The nothingness that met my tastebuds stayed in the mouthfeel. The packageing is better than the product and the extra cost isn’t worth the end result. Just above average.

33cl bottle. Pours honey coloured with a red hue. The nose has honey and malt, like a breakfast cereal in fact. The taste has malt followed by a sour toffee note. The palate is medium bodied but then the sour note makes the middle part and the end quite astringent. Overall, it started ok but plummeted thereafter and am not inclined to have another.

Golden amber, clear, frothy white that quickly dissipates 3
Aroma Pale golden malts, light lager hops, not much else, little on the nose
Taste Golden light caramel malts, grains, hint of honey, touch of bitter hops, some metal, alcohol quite noticeable, not much going on here for 6.6%, tastes like a souped up version of a standard macro, boring.
Palate Medium carb, medium body, texture oily. Finish rather bitter, light honey, bit metallic
Overall I find this boring, not much going on here and what’s there doesn’t taste great. Rather poor.

33 cl bottle. Clear dark yellow to orange. Fine white head, lacing. Nose of syrup. Moderate malts amount, candies and syrup. Taste initally sweet and backed by a strong bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily texture, dry. Not exactly easy to drink, quite heavy and aggressive. Not bad considering the brand and target.

Bottle. Gold with an inch of white head. Grainy aroma with some caramel and flowers. Taste is sweet with grain and caramel, drying finish. Dull; seems like the expensive end of cheap.
