The Cassis Tilquin à l’ancienne (6.3% alc/vol) is a spontaneous fermentation beer obtained from the fermentation of frozen blackcurrants in young lambics, blended with 1, 2 and 3 years lambic to reach a final concentration of fruits of 200 gr fruit per liter. This is a different version from the Experimental Draft Versions #1 and #2, as no Meerts lambic was used to lower the ABV of the blend. Served for the first time as a premiere at BxlBeerFest 2019 and sold at the blendery from 6th-7th of September.

Bottle from Holiday Market shared. Pours a clearish plum purple with a small pink head that dissipates. Tart blackcurrant aromas with some hay and horseblanket as it warms up. Good carbonation with some light mineral funk on the palate. Tart dark fruit...some plum as it warms. Dry, fruit-skin filled finish.

375 ml bottle. Pours a thick reddish brown with little head. Aromas of tart dark berries, a little barnyard, and wheaty malts. Flavors of tart currants, huckleberries, and wheaty malts. Refreshing.

Saurer, dennoch weicher Beginn von Kirsche und Johannisbeere, vollmundig, die Fruchtnoen kommen mit einer milden Süße daher, die aber sofort geschluckt wird. Weich, deutliche Bitternoten, die aber in zweiter Reihe stehen. Konstante Säure, langer fruchtig-saurer Nachgeschmack. 11/13/13/12/11/13

Flaska från SB drucken med ölföreningen. Snygg lambik med strå, stall, citrus och massor av svarta vinbär vilket ju är riktigt gott. Ändå lite en dimensionellt och för vinbär tar bort lite av lambikens nyanser och karaktär. Gott

Bottle at home, split with Beau and Sharon, 11/03/20. Murky raspberry red with a decent crimson cap. Nose is sharp blackcurrant, wood must, funk, damp wood, dry rot, raspberry jam, earthy. Taste comprises sharp berry fruits, blackberries, blackcurrant yoghurt, funk, acidic bite, damp wood, barnyard esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a balanced acidic rise. Solid lambic.

2018 bottle. Clear reddish amber with an off white head that's soon at the rim. Aroma of berries, lemon, oak, some damp hay mystery. Smells good but I really don't know how it's going to taste -- but perhaps predictably the answer is elegant, with the fruit a feature but far from dominant. Not really slippery. Lowish carbonation. The blackcurrant is rich but short of round or punchy with herbal and twiggy notes floating along with sour, mildly funky and quite lemony lambic that's pretty oaky at the end. Very nice.
