Frühlingszeit ist Maibockzeit … nur warum? Als es noch keine Kühlmaschinen gab und Eisreserven der Brauhäuser zur Neige gingen, haben die Bierbrauer herausgefunden, dass ein stark eingebrautes und gut gehopftes Bier durchaus länger haltbar ist als ein normales Vollbier (11-14% Stammwürze). So kam es, dass der Maibock traditionell zur Osterzeit schon erhältlich war und sich ohne Probleme bis über den Mai hinaus halten lies.

Der Maibock ist ein Bockbier (über 16% Stammwürze) mit etwa 6,5% Alkohol. Passend zum Frühling ist er hell mit einer leichten Restsüße. Durch einen schönen Anteil von Spezialmalzen, welche den Maibock vollmundig, süffig aber nicht mastig schmecken lassen und durch eine wohldosierte Menge Hopfen (die einen Bock frisch abrunden), erinnert er an aufblühende grasige Frühlingsfelder, erste Biergartenbesuche und die ersten wärmenden Sonnenstrahlen. Der Ricklinger Maibock ist seit 20 Jahren von der Osterzeit bis Ende Mai fester Bestandteil im Sortiment der Ricklinger Landbrauerei und definitiv einen Ausflug Wert.

Bottle @ Brewery. Thanks Simon. Pours Hazy deep Golden with a White head. Fruity hoppy nose. Marmelade and grass. Dry and bitter flavor with a touch of bready malts. Amazed to have Ricklinger beers this good. 10 years ago They had massive issues.

Bottle from Germany from www.biershop-bierpost.com. Slightly hazy golden coloured body with a solid white head. Aroma of grain, spice, and floral hops. Mild sweetness, medium bodied, medium carbonation, bittersweet finish.

Many thanks for this bottle to Beerhunter111. Golden in color with a small off-white head. Aroma is of caramel, malt and alcohol. Taste is the same.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein goldenes Bier mit ordentlicher Schaumkrone. Geruch malzig, getreidig, Heu. Geschmack malzig, fruchtig, getreidig, minimal alkoholisch.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Bitter hoppy aroma, hints of leaves, tobacco, cautious malty background with a touch of cookies. Taste is minimally sweet malty, minimally grainy, a touch of cookies, bitter hoppy overtones with a cautious fruity touch, hints of tobacco, considerable presence of alcohol in the finish. Decent.

Bottle @ Zentraleuropäischer Wahnsinn. Medium head with medium duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are malt, little butterscotch, caramel, grass and hops.

Bottle @ Zentraleuropäischer Wahnsinn. Clear dark golden with a white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, fruity and moderate hoppy - straw. Flavor is medium sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and light bitter finish. 300513

Bottle, 6.5%. Buttery and citric aroma. Almost clear amber colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is very malty, slightly buttery. Has a spicy hop note with a rough bitterness in the finish.

50 cl bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small off white head. Aroma is light herbal and mild grassy. Toasted malty and light breadish. Bitter and toasted malty into a dry and bitter finish.

On tap at the brewery. Pours clear amber with small white head. Clear aroma of malt and hops with a sublime fruity note. Herbal flavour of needles and spices with distinct malty and hoppy touches. Quite well-balanced. Dryish aftertaste. A nice one.
