Bottle bought in Perth by my sister. The color of beer was dark brown, much like Coca Cola. Fluffy white foam. The aroma contains something sweet, such as cola. Some coffee was there also. Not a huge aroma. A lot of sweet malt taste like caramel, coffee and dark chocolate. The ending offered a mild bitterness. Liquid was a bit thin, still a rather nice beer.

Copper pour with a off-white persistent head.Lots of sweet malt on the nose with some hints of oats. If it wasn’t so faint it’d be quite good. Some chocolate and slight hops.More sweet dark malt upon tasting, with caramel and treacle. Not much else though.Too much carbonation and slightly watery.

irrespective of the misnaming, this is a pelasure to drink. Lovely dark brown in hue, well-balanced palate with loads of chocolate and malt. Lovely winter beer.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, dark, orangey brown with a small, rough, beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and some alcohol - a fairly authentic "German" aroma.. Solid body with a fine base of roasted malt, caramel and some nuts - a lightly burned accents also. The finish is dry with both some bitterness and some alcohol. In spite of the confusion about the contradictionary name "Doppelbock Ale", this clearly is a Doppelbock - even a good one. 200208

Bottle: Poured a clear brown color ale with a large foamy head with good retention but no lacing. Aroma contains loads of caramel malt. Taste is also dominated by some caramel malt with some subtle notes of toffee but none of the banana or cloves notes usually contained in the style and that I usually appreciate. Medium creamy body with some good carbonation.

Malty, chocolatey, with a decent backbone and balance, but fairly straight forward and lacking great depth. Still very drinkable.
