This beer, inspired by the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, is a twist on the classic Belgian witbier style. Instead of the traditional coriander and orange peel spicing regimen, we add fresh lemongrass, ginger root, and a dash of Sorachi Ace hops. The result is a wonderfully refreshing ale with notes of lemon candy, citrus fruit, and a slight spiciness from the ginger. Best served at 45˚F in a tulip or wine glass.

Belgian-style witbier from a brewery following the new American trend of selling craft ales in cans. Spiced with lemon grass and ginger, a welcome variation on the eternal coriander and curaçao, and equally atypically hopped with Sorachi Ace. Snow white, thin but stable head, hazy pale ochre blonde colour. Very pleasantly perfumed aroma of wheat, soap, ginger, limoncello, honey, gingerbread, banana liqueur, apricot, mango. Fruity onset with citrus zest touch, sweetish honeyish malts paired with a refreshing wheat sourishness and ending in a dry, sourish but also remarkably hop bitter finish. Very American interpretation of the style, maybe the most interesting one I had, very delicate and very enjoyable.

Keg @ The Black Heart, Camden. Pours cloudy yellow, lemongrass & banana on the nose. Picking out some strange spicy esters to this, a little too much mushy banana and not really digging the ginger and other spices that are emerging through the yeast. Found it hard to finish unfortunately.

Can. Pours cloudy golden orange, large white creamy head, great lacing. Aroma is wheat, lemon, coriander. Flavor follows, light sweet, little bitterness, light zesty bite, would not get ginger without help. Light body, high carbonation.

Pours hazy gold with a large foamy white head. Aroma seems a mix of fruit and ginger and same goes for taste. I think it would be better without the ginger, which I didn’t lite. Otherwise pretty decent.

Can @ Euston Tap, London. Pours hazy gold with a medium-to-large head. Sour lemon with some characteristic witbier spices. Taste starts with a spicy sweetness, sharp change to sour/bitter. Sourish lingering aftertaste. Watery mouthfeel. Doesn’t really get me too excited, kind of a witbier by numbers despite the exotic title.

Draft - Lemon grass, coriander and Belgian yeast. Hazy yellow with a thin white head. Wheat, light citrus, coriander and the ginger makes a play here. I don’t think I like the ginger in this beer.
