Colossal Double IPA
Maximus is our Colossal take on a Double IPA. 9% ABV. Full of Simcoe and Cascade hops balanced against tons of rich malted barley—a bed of smooth malted wheat, biscuity Munich malt, and English Crystal. Maximus’ massive dry-hop bill entertains with spice, floral and berry notes … For the hop heads!

35,5cl bottle from Systembolaget, Sälen. Pours clear deep golden to amber with an off-white head. Fruity and hoppy aroma with tropical fruits, pine, citrus, caramel and pale malt. Sweet, hoppy and fruity with a decent bitterness. A bit too sweet, but still quite balanced and very pleasant. Certainly decent stuff.

Bottle poured into a tulip. Pours a golden orange/amber with two fingers off-white head. Some tiny floaties throughout. Nice webby lacing as the head recedes. Aromas of citrus, caramel, bready notes, resin, a little dankness. Tasting notes of grapefruit, caramel, bread, pine/resin, piney hops. Sticky and juicy mouthfeel with a semi-dry finish. Medium body.

Pours a clear, golden yellow with smallish head. Aroma has some fruit in it, but also a lot of malt. Flavor is very fruity/citrusy, with a lot of malt sweetness. Bitter finish. Pretty good.

(Bottle, 0.355 l - no BBE info found contradicting what the label tells, at Black Door, 20140104) The beer poured deep amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had pine, fruitiness and bitterness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, pine, malts, sweetness and bitterness. Afteraste had citricness, malts and bitterness. A pleasant brew.

Bottle @ Beer Temple, shared by Martinus. Clear golden blonde color, white head. Aroma’s: caramel, biscuity malts, piney & citrussy hops. More malt and less hop retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet & moderate bitter. Medium bodied. Finishes with a solid bitterness. Perhaps a bit past its prime.

Bottle, Systembolaget. Clear dark golden with a white head. Aroma and taste of hops, citrus, grass, biscuits and some malt. Also some notes of alcohol. The finish was bitter and fairly dry. Drinkable but not as tasty as expected, I wonder how old the bottle was?
