Bottle, Thanks Jim! Pours dark ebony with a small tan head that dissipates quickly with some lacing. Aroma is smoke, roasted malts, tobacco. Flavor is the same, light sweet, little bitterness, light astringence from the oak. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Nice beer.

Draft at Surly during RBSG grand tasting. From notes. Loads of roasty malt with a good deal of smoke. This went great with the Pizza Luce dinner. Awesome.

Draft @ CBC 2013. Pours a dark brown almost black color with a small off-white head. Has a slightly roasted malty smoky aroma. Roasted malty grainy spicy smoky flavor. Has a roasted malty spicy smoky finish.

Draught, 9.5%. Surprisingly little aroma. Almost black colour, seems hazy. The flavour is sweet and salty at first, then it turns vinous with a mild bonfire smoked note. Subtle smoke, but still comes forward.

[5/4/13] Draught at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. Dark brown to black color with a big beige head. Roasty and smoky aroma with meaty notes. Flavor of smoked and roasted malt, a bit of chocolate, hints of licorice and a bitter alcoholic finish. Medium-bodied.

Draught @ CBC2013. Pours hazy black with a beige head that leaves a small trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly sweet and slightly malty with roasted malts, charred wood, smoke, dark roast coffee, butterscotch hardcandy, bitter chocolate, moist soil and hints of peat. Taste is sweet, bitter and malty with roasted malts, smoke, charred wood, peat, dark roast coffee, bitter chocolate, salty liquorice, moist soil, burnt cookies and hints of burnt caramel and butterscotch harcandy. Mouthfeel is round, soft and medium to full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet, bitter and slightly malty with roasted malts, dark roast coffee, smoke, charred wood, bitter chocolate, hay and hints of smoked salmon. Very tasty...
