Nelson Sauvignon is a New Year beer it is fermented with ale yeast, brettanomyces and enzymes. Then it has been aged three months in Austrian white wine casks. Very dry, very vinous and very delicious.

Keg at CP&K. It pours cloudy deep amber, with a thin yellow-white head. The nose is white grape, gooseberry, tart green apple, lime, yeast and some funk. The taste is tangy white grape, kiwi, lime, green apple, gooseberry, alcohol warmth, wood, brown bread, biscuit and toast, with a dry, citrusy finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and smooth mouth-feel. A very pleasant brew, with a nice touch of tangy tartness. Nice.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Hazy, dark orange appearance with a big off white head. White grape, grapefruit, slightly vinous, dry, lightly piney nose. Sweet grapefruit, fairly white grape-y, slightly tangy, lightly sour, bretty flavor. Very nice.

Bottle at SBWF, October 6, 2011. Clear golden with a minimal white head. An interesting and complex beer with a lot of different flavors. A lot of fruit and some brett. The finish was dry. Would love to try this beer again.

Draught at Bishops Linnégatan. Pours brown orange with a small off white head. Nice orval like tartness, sweeter with lots of oranges, grapes and grape seed. Semi heavy and drinkable.

On tap @ Bishops Arms Linnégatan. The genius of this beer came as a complete surprise to me. One sip, and I started asking myself wheter this was a modern version of Orval, or maybe a new beer from the Dolle. It’s funky, tart, sweet, fruity and hoppy at the same time (and in a way that only the breweries mentioned above has managed to brew before). It’s super complex, and very very drinkable. Notes of black currant (a lot!), brett, wood, vinous bitterness, orange, citrus and christmas spices. Smooth.

2013-06-19, bottle at Pibar, Lausanne, synthetic cork, 8-4-9-4-18=43
Fantastic, funky, fruity, lightly sweet, woody.
2011-07-26, draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen, 9-4-8-4-17=42
Cloudy amber color; small head. The aroma is fantastic, a concert of stone fruits and white grapes, Muscadel as well, with a light, sweet, earthy touch. Good body strength; malt flavor with character, therefore the residual sweetness is a good complement here; there is a high degree of fruitiness, with pleasant, moderate fruit acidity; correct bitterness; overall, a complex blend. The final is balanced, earthy, with a light tart touch.
Very good.
