Now labeled as a Brown Ale by the brewery and should probably be reclassified as such. Auburn in color with a frothy white head. Aroma is a mix of roasted grains, cigarette smoke, and weak cacao. Taste is bitter, full of sawdust, tea, and strong roasted tones over a watery, underlying sweetness. Cacao and oak at the finish and it’s the strong woody flavors that kept my interest in the end. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation. It goes down easy. Not bad.

Aus der Flasche 2015-07 im Hopfen und Malz Berlin getrunken. Dieses dunkle IPA hat statt Citrus und Südfruchtaroma eine deutliche Schokonote. Am Gaumen ist es sehr moderat bitter und gut trinkbar - aber auch total langweilig weil hier kaum Aromen rüber kommen.

Bottle: Light amber coloured, big&loose "dirty" head with a little lace; distinctive sweet-sourish fruity-hoppy nose with some traces of cacao-powder underneath; soft, but relatively light bodied for a beer of 6.0%; bitter-sourish flavour with a slight sweetness underneath; chocolate indeed detectable in the short lemony-hoppy finish. Strange, but good…

At at asting, thanks, medium bubbly off white head, light hazy very pale brown color, aroma of candle wax, light chocolate, rubber and wood, flavor of candle wax, light chocolate and rubber with a coarse almost foul bitterness. Really bad.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Max. As Mashee Xoco. Hazy orange. Aroma of stale fruity hops and some vegetal notes. Bitter flavor with slightly stale fruity hops and a bit of honey. Medium-bodied.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, deep amber colour with a big and slightly tanned foamy head. Fruity and mildly piney hoppy aroma with notes of citrus, grapefruit, combined with a distinctive touch of chocolate. Mildly bitter and slightly sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. A tad slim malty base with notes of marzipan and chocolate, backed by fruity and slightly piney hops; dry, slightly malty and moderately bitter hoppy finish with fruity accents, mixed up with a touch of chocolate and a delicately ethereally, minty touch. Uncommon but likeable brew. 27.III.15

Bottle. Pours a pale amber color with a small off-white head. Has a fruity malty chocolate aroma. Fruity malty chocolate and caramel flavor. Has a fruity malty weak chocolate caramel finish with hoppy hints.

Pours an amber color with a white head, ok lacings. Aroma medium malty, heavy hoppy. Flavor heavy bitter, medium spicy. Medium body.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, nice head. Starts mild, more and more hoppy and dry. Fine fruity notes. Also light hints of chocolate. Interesting combination. Finish dominated by fruity-hoppy notes. Quite good!
