750ml botle from the LCBO.
hazy dark brown pour, big white frothy head, with good lacing.
big aromas of wood, oak, vanilla, brown sugar, and mollasses. the oak minges well with the sweet oak, and mollasses, but its getting in the way of the charred malts. the malts are getting lost, and knocked back because of the intense vanilla from the barrel. the finish is almost cloying, but thins out and becomes quite enjoyable.

650ml bottle. Pours a clear dark brown with a red hue and a small, short lived, tan head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of caramel malt, bread, dark fruit, bourbon, oak, vanilla and a hint of coffee. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, dark fruit, dark chocolate, vanilla, oak and a hint of bitter coffee with a bourbon warming finish. Medium to full body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Pretty solid brew.

650ml bottle. Clear, darkest brown colour with dark ruby red glimmer and small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Dark malty, fruity aroma, hints of oak and vanilla, notes of dark berries, a touch of leather and treacle. Taste is dark malty with notes of toffee, dark berries, hints of leather, oak, vanilla, some honey sweetness, a touch of blue grapes, some cinnamon; hoppy bitterness combines with the carbonation and leads to a finish with prickling mouthfeel. Rich and variegated, skillful handling of the oak aging process.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/27/2014. Pours crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of raisin, plum, fig, apple, caramel, toast, toffee, vanilla, oak, brown bread, bourbon, light nuttiness, light chocolate, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and moderate bourbon barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, apple, caramel, toast, toffee, vanilla, oak, brown bread, bourbon, light nuttiness, light chocolate, and herbal/toasted earthiness. Light herbal bitterness and oak/bourbon spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, fig, apple, caramel, toffee, toast, vanilla, oak, brown bread, bourbon, light nuttiness/chocolate, and herbal/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and moderate bourbon barrel flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and fairly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice barrel aged doppelbock style. All around good robustness, balance, and complexity of dark/bready malt, dark fruit, and moderate bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bastante buena.

Bottle bought @ bierkompass.de. Pours hazy deep dark reddish brown with rather small offwhite head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty with toasted malts, dark bread, caramel, toffee, butterscotch hard candy, vanilla fudge, charred wood, hay, moist soil, roasted coconut, caramelized almonds and minerals. Taste is slightly sweet, bitter and malty with dark bread, caramel, vanilla fudge, charred wood, prunes, raisins, hay, moist soil, hazelnuts and bourbon alcohol. Mouthfeel is fat, round, tiny dry, very tiny tart, tiny boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with dark bread, caramel, vanilla fudge, charred wood, moist soil, hay, hazelnuts and hints of bourbon alcohol and lemon zest. Beefy malt bomb! Enjoyable...

Etwas trockener, mild schokoladiger Antrunk. Im Mittelteil wässrig wirkend, süßlich. Zum Ende schokoladiger, insgesamt aber mild bleibend. Wenig würzig, spritzig, entäuschende Intensität. 7/10/9/9/8/9
