A rich dark winter ale brewed with English Malts and hops for lots of fruity festive flavour. The rich fruitiness of this beer goes beautifully with cold meats or strong English cheeses like a traditional Cheddar.

Old rating from 25-12-15 - 500ml bottle, pours clear chestnut with a creamy, mellow tan head. Aromas of nice spiced notes and sweet ginger. Tastes of a medium to sweet taste of light malt, with caramel, toffee, cinnamon, herbs, lemon, with quite strong bitter hops. Aftertaste of is dry with some caramel rusty bitterness. Overall a Christmas ale I really enjoyed.

500ml bottle. No longer has 'Southwold' in the title but its clearly marked as Adnams and is 4.2% so must be the same. Chestnut pour with small beige top. Aroma has a rich toasted malt helped by the use of rye with notes of fruit cake and toffee. Taste follows aroma - there is a nice mixed dried fruit and blackberry with some light spicy notes to offset the maltiness. Slick near medium body, maybe a bit light for a winter beer but it does offset the richness. Moderately sweet and bitter. Overall a good bitter.
