Leicht eingetrübte gelbe Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Malziger, getreidiger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, getreidig mit Karamell. Hohe Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, voller Körper mit sanfter Kohlensäure.

0,5l bottle at home bought at Craft Bier Fest Wien. BB 16.03.2016. dark yellow hazy color, small white head. smells tobacco, metallic, light sweetness, some caramel, cardboard, candy, some berry notes, honey. smell gets a bit better after some breathing. full body, bubbly carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes sweet, honey, some fruits, light peach, some berries, light raspberries, some tobacco, lightly cardboardish. finishes with light sweetness and some berry notes. OKish not too special though. especially the smell improves after some breathing.

At a tasting, thanks, small stable creamy head, cloudy deepish yellow color, yeasty slightly perfume aroma with nutty woody hints, sweetish candy flavor with fruity and yeasty hints, light and a little awkward bitterness. So so.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Alexey’s place. Thanks Stas. 6.6%. Cloudy golden. Aroma of malt, honey, lager yeast, alcohol. Sweet flavor with malt, honey, a bit of caramel, so9me alcohol, and a slightly bitterish finish. Medium-bodied.

50 cl bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is grassy and dry straw. Slight eggy. Sweet and toasted and caramelish. Bitter and slight herbal. Dry and bitter into the finish.

500ml bottle [2012 vintage, 6.4% abv]. Minimally cloudy dark golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Grainy aroma has notes of hay, unroasted coffee, unripe spelt grain, brown bread. Taste is initially minimally sweet grainy, later more dry grainy with dry to bitter hoppy overtones carrying a decent grassy / herbal touch. Doesn’t comply with Bock much less Doppelbock criteria, could be rubricated as Strong Zwickel or so - well done on the malt taste side with nice subtle notes, as seems to be typical for this brewer (though not typical for a Doppelbock in this case), weak on the hop side (though more hoppy than other examples from this brewer). Somehow the beer is clearly better than the resulting total score.
