Bottled (from Alko Keskusta, Vaasa). Pitch black colour, mediumsized creamy beige head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is roasted malts, mild star anise as well as some liquorice. Flavour is pretty much liquorice stinging sweetness along with bild burnt wooden and toasted notes. Thin and watery as for the palate, but a nice liquorice taste in the beer and aftertaste.

Bottle 0.33l at home, Nivala. BBE 110117. Colour is dark brown with small slightly brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Licorice, spices, anise, some chocolate and roasted malts. Needs body but licorice is not candy in this.

A colablack beer, a head is quite big and beige. Aroma is quite mild, breadyness, weird mustyness, some liquirice. Taste has clear liquirice, some roastiness of coffee and salt. Liquirice aftertaste. Medium bodied, smooth and fluffy carbonation. Reminds me from a liquirice bar. Decent.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 11012017, 20160204) The beer poured clear and nearly black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had liquorice and burnt malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were liquorice, burnt malts, mildly aniseed, ash and bitterness. Aftertaste had liquorice, burnt malts and bitterness. A nicely done brew with a quite lot of liquorice.

33cl bottle from Alko. Pours near black with a thick espresso head. Slightly woody aroma, caramel and licorice. Wow! The flavor is loaded with sweet licorice, smooth smooth, some chocolate notes. I guess you have to really like licorice to enjoy this one. Yummy. Long finish. Feels slightly thin at times.

Bottled (Alko)
Dark brown color, small to medium-sized beige head, some lace. Aroma has caramel and then licorice. Medium-bodied. Very oily palate. And yes, it is all licorice. Evident Kouvolan lakritsi in the flavor. It’s good that it doesn’t feel artifical in this beer. Sweetness, porterish character is overrun mostly by licorice. Aftertaste has some toastyness. It is not too bad if you like licorice. One bottle is enough, licorice is dominant but I’ve had worse licorice beers.
