backlog. Near black pour. It has a mild aroma of roast malt and chocolate. Flavor is similar and on the sweet side. It's medium bodied with a roasty finish. It's a fairly good beer, quite drinkable, but I wouldn't call it robust as porters go.

24/12/2020. Can sample courtesy of SHIG, cheers. Pours almost black with a small off-white head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, carob, liquorice, roasted malt, dark fruits. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness. Moderate body, oily watery texture, soft carbonation. Nice aroma but didn't really follow through.

Can: Poured a deep black brown with a frothy light brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, leafy, chocolate, little veggie. Taste is wet, chocolate, malty like whoppers candy, thinner than I expected.

Can as pictured. Nasty little skull on the front. Dark & pretty pour. Off malty nose. Initially my tongue thinks impy or baltic. Dark roasty burnt campfire wood flavors. Finally, I get a beer that has no hint of IPA in it, finally. Big black bitter personality, large and in charge, yeah. Very crisp co2 for a dark beer, nice. Certainly tastes like more than 6%! Medicinal corner of mouth dark beer impressions in the end. Not bad but its nothing like a Michelob dark lager, heheheh.

This beer is a clear dark brown color with a medium beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Small patches of lace. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Light to medium body with flavors of roasted malt, cocoa and coffee. The finish is roasty with a malt and coffee aftertaste. Decent overall.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 11/2/2016. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy very dark reddish brown color with a 2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, light smoke, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, light smoke, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Moderate herbal/spicy hop and roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, toffee, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, light smoke, herbal, light pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is awesome. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.8%. Overall this is an awesome American porter! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Really outstanding well rounded malt complexity, spot on for the style. A highly enjoyable offering.
